'The Upside of the Downturn with Geoff Colvin' (podcast)
6/01/2009

We had a great call with Geoff Colvin, authors of The Upside of the Downturn.  A couple of the highlights for me:

1.       Geoff’s last book Talent is Overrated was about the fact that achieving great performance is more under our control than we thought, and is about being pushed just beyond our capability.  Geoff sees this recession as pushing all of us just beyond our capabilities and as a great development opportunity.

2.       Geoff spoke about the importance of companies continuing to invest in developing employees.  He suggests asking yourself and your organization the question “What is the source of your operation’s competitive advantage?”
